Story
First off, thank you for clicking on the link that brought you here!
I knew when I first signed up for the Brighton Marathon last July that this would be the cause I'd run for. Sexual assault, harassment and abuse are pervasive, we all either know someone or are someone who's been affected by at least one of those things. While I hope our culture's changing to become less accomodating of predatory behaviour OSAARCC's helpline - along with the several other services they provide - is making a difference to survivors right now.
What I didn't know was my race would be postponed halfway through my training cycle and our day-to-day lives would become completely unrecognisable.
While I will hopefully still be running the Brighton marathon come September 20th, I've decided to go a ahead and plan my own un-cancel-able event as well a month earlier.
I've never run a marathon, I am no one's idea of a fast runner, and I am filled with anxiety about race day. But I will get through it because I'm proud to be representing this local charity.
Please help me make the hundreds of miles I'll have run by marathon day count. Not for me, but for an amazing organisation and the people it helps.
