Story
I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be running the London Marathon on Sunday 23rd April 2023 for the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society in memory of my Nan who died of this disease in 2005, and also my dad, Gary, who died of Covid-19 in 2020.
MS is a degenerative condition that can affect the brain and spinal cord, causing a wide range of potential symptoms, including problems with vision, arm or leg movement, sensation or balance. MS affects 1 in 500 people in the UK, with 130 people a week being diagnosed with the disease, and over 18,000 people dying worldwide every year.
It is 25 years since my Dad ran the London Marathon (in 1998), I will be running for the same charity and hoping to beat his time of sub 5 hours. It’ll be just over 3 years since his death, by the time I run.
Dad, this feels like a huge goal and challenge for myself. You told me so much about the Marathon in 1998, so I hope I can do you proud, and raise lots of money in the process, for a charity that was so close to your heart. Love and miss you xx
