Following on from my son Daniel’s two half marathon runs in recent weeks I thought I would join him in raising much needed funds

Your running half marathons? I hear you say…..

I say, nothing anywhere near as easy as that, no I will be joining the brotherhood of gentlemen and will be taking part in Movember this year.

Movember is all about bringing back the moustache, having fun doing it for a serious cause, enduring discomfort and what I suspect will be a whole lot of abuse and banter from friends and family alike over the next month.

This year has seen the passing my father and brother-in-law, both had a great sense of fun, a love of life and both would have given me stick for letting my eyebrows come down for a drink!

So I am participating in aid of Age UK to support the funding of help, advice and care for the elderly. We were fortunate to experience the care and compassion that was shown to our family. Supporting an organisation like Age UK will help to provide support to the elderly both now and in the future and helping them and their families in difficult times. If you have lost someone dear to you, then you will know the pain that comes with it.

If you had a chance to ease that pain for someone else would you?

Please donate to this great cause, help provide that level of care that will really make a difference. I don't ask for much, whatever can be spared would be greatly appreciated.

On a lighter note, I will attempt to keep you posted on my Movember progress, perhaps even sharing before, during and after pictures. Never having gone more than a few days without a shave I have no real idea what sort of health warning they should come with and offer my apologies in advance.
