Oleg's 57km (35.6m) for Suicide Prevention - 28th of May

35 miles for Suicide Prevention · 22 March 2021
There is no personal story I would like to share, but there are a couple of facts about suicide that I would like to mention.
Unfortunately it is a lot more common than many of us realise. In UK 1 in 5 people think of suicide during their lifetime.
I work in the construction industry, where suicide rate is over three times the national average. That is a scary thought, when I think of all the people I know and all their struggles that I don't.
The last year has put an extra toll on all of us, which was just enough to tip the scales for some.
There is only one acceptable suicide rate - 0. Currently UK's population is suffering 18 suicides every day. This is a long way to go.
Grassroots is one of the charities that help with bringing this number down by providing support, information, training and they even have their own "Stay Alive" app which has now been downloaded over 100,000 times.
I want to help. So I set myself a challenge of running my very first ultramarathon (and I have not even officially completed a marathon yet), and I am counting on your support with this cause.
I am aiming for the 28th of May as the date for this challenge.
Thank you.
