Story

Hi here, lets start by introducing ourselves we are Ellie, Matt and Mick and our goal is to raise money for the Karen Green Foundation, to improve the life's of Leukemia sufferers. The Karen Green foundation came into existence after Mick's wife and Ellie's mum, Karen Green, sadly passed away in 2011 and the charity was born.

The official definition of family may argue that because we are not blood related we aren't family, for us that's not the case! We regard each other as family because our relationship is significantly stronger than a friendship! And for that reason we are excited and motivated to experience the Outlaw together as a family team developing our memories made together and making another family memory!

Ellie- " I recently decided to return to swimming after leaving triathlon for a number of years due to injury. After my first swim session back with Absolute Tri, we decided to attempt to complete the Outlaw. I was lucky enough to witness my dad complete the Outlaw in 2012 and more recently the Langdale KGF team progress over the years to win last year! 2.4 miles in openwater at Holmepier Pont  will certainly test my mental and physical ability but i am sure with everyone's support and pressure of not letting Matt and Dad down i will do it! I would like to finish my swim at least a second quicker than my dad however, this is ambitious, we'll see...☺"

Matt- " After growing up as a close family friend it is a privilege to be part of 'Team Green' as it truly feels like i am a genuine member of the green family. I am looking forward to congratulating Ellie after her swim and taking on the bike leg in a less competitive nature than i previously have in 2012 and 2013 where i achieved silver medals on both occasions. Having been away from cycling for 18 months the task is not to be underestimated, i hope my legs are up to the task as mentally i know i can do it!"

Mick- "What can I say ! Having completed the Outlaw in 2012 along with many friends from Absolute triathlon... It was an incredibly moving and exceptionally proud moment for me, when 3 years later Ellie talked of wanting to do the swim to raise money for Karens Foundation at 15 the youngest to have taken part. I had no other option than to join the team! Words cannot say how proud of Ellie I am for having a go as the 2.4 Mile open water swim is so daunting for me the toughest of  the 3 disaplins. Having not ran since 2012 I am not looking forward to the Marathon but to be a part of this team is a honour along side Matt Fostun who has always been there for me and is such a big part of our family. This will be another very special day and I'm so excited to experience it with Ellie and Matt. Please give to the Charity that is moving forward and really making a difference to local people's life's."
