Story
I’m dedicating my half-Ironman on 21 May in Nottingham (the Outlaw Half!) to raise funds that will be focussed towards increasing awareness of aortic dissection leading to quick diagnosis and treatment.
Sudden unexplained chest pain? Think Aorta
The half-Ironman is 1.9k swim, 91k bike and a half marathon distance race - here’s the course https://www.outlawtriathlon.com/nottingham-half/event-info/route-maps/
About: Aortic Dissection Awareness started life as a small group of people who had suffered an aortic dissection and found themselves with inadequate information about their condition and a complete lack of knowledge of fellow sufferers. Survival rates were extremely low. In the intervening years, this small group became an unincorporated association that has grown to have in excess of 700 members and became a CIO in April 2022.For a number of years, we have led the organisation of the annual Aortic Dissection Day in the UK, which is held as close to 19th September each year and is awarded to an institution that is recognised by patients as doing excellent work in the field of aortic dissection.
