Story
During Lent, I'm raising money for ShelterBox by sleeping out under the stars once a week, whatever the weather.
Most of my nights outside will be under canvas, in my little tent, other times you'll find me tucked up in my bivvy bag subject to the elements on top of a hill somewhere. Lula has also opted in to this challenge (does giving me her paw count?), and will double-up as hot water bottle and watchdog. The majority of my pitches will be summit camps, up one of Dartmoor's many tors, but I may get creative as the weeks progress. You can follow my camp outs with pictures and all that in the Strava activity box on the right.
I'm doing my once-a-week-wildcamp to raise vital funds for ShelterBox, who provide tents and other shelter essentials to families who have lost their home to disaster. This now includes those affected by the earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria. My fundraising goal is £500, enough for a large tent and other essential items, so a family can survive and recover. Giving a family a temporary home, gives with it, a sense of new hope. ShelterBox also provide tarps and tools, along with various household necessities such as solar lights, water filters and mosquito nets to people affected by disaster and conflict.
When is Lent anyway? The six weeks of Lent this year are from Wednesday, February 22nd to Thursday, April 6th. It's early this year, which means it'll be a bit chilly when I'm out in the wild for the night.
Here's how your support can help:
- £11 could provide a family with a solar light
- £48 could provide a family thermal blankets
My target of £500 (or more!) could provide a family with a tent, solar lights, household items, warm clothes and coats, and thermal blankets.
Thank you for any donations to this great cause!
