Story
I'm running the Zermatt Half Marathon on 7 July 2018, which is mainly uphill. I hope to finish it in less than 3 hours.
My Dad has COPD, a lung condition, probably caused by a couple of decades working the face of coal mines. His lungs can't be cured, yet, but the support he's had over the years from the British Lung Foundation's local Breathe Easy group has been truly wonderful.
Dad's pretty stoic when it comes to putting up with the problems not being able to breathe causes. He had a grim childhood, but made sure mine was fantastic, working himself silly to get me through University. He is, of course, my absolute hero. Anything I can do to give back will be a drop in the ocean compared to what he's done for me.
So, I'm running up that hill whether anyone donates money or not. But it might seem to have a bit more point to it with my Dad and a charity to support!
I've been training for 3 months now, and am about half way through. I've lost 7Kg, and aim to lose at least another 3Kg. I'll keep anyone who is interested up to date with how the training and race goes on our blog: ourtour.co.uk, so you'll get a chance to see me suffer in return for your money! :-)
Thanks, Jason
