Story
Every year we try and take a group of students from Chelsea Academy to visit the kids from Our Kids foundation in Bosnia. This was started up as our previous head of sixth form was a Bosnian refugee herself.
'The challenge' pushes students to go beyond their comfort zones. During their visit to Bosnia they live inside the orphanage and will work on daily tasks. As some of the orphans are aged 18 and above they are no longer allowed to stay in the orphanage but through the great work Our Kids foundation they have managed to build a "half way house" where the orphans will live and work.
Our students will help them with tasks such as gardening, painting, cooking, cleaning as well helping them to practice English and teaching them as many have learning difficulties.
The money the students raise is needed to pay for the equipment they will be using but also for some day trips whereby our students and the orphans go out and visit Mostar including some of the memorial sites.
Our students will be running in the City 1 hour race on June 17th as well as doing a sponsored fast among many other tasks to raise money for the challenge.
Any donations are hugely appreciated!
