Story
On Tuesday 2nd October a team of budding cyclists will ride the highs and lows across 109 miles of Lincolnshire countryside.
The ride commences at The Poplars in Market Rasen and will finish up at Patchett Lodge in Holbeach, the team of riders will visit 12 out of 15 Lincolnshire homes ran by The Orders of St John Care Trust.
So, why did we decided to organise Tour De Trust? Each year, around 850,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with dementia, equating to one in 14 people. The number of individuals with dementia is increasing as a likely result of people now living longer. According to statistics, it is thought that by 2025 the number of people in the UK with dementia will have risen over 1 million.
As an organisation that provides high level care to those living with dementia, we wanted to give back to those who help us along the way. As a result, we have chosen Dementia UK as the charity we want to fundraise for.
Dementia UK provide specialist support to families with a loved one who has dementia, and also fund Admiral Nurses. An Admiral Nurse, is a nurse that is continually trained, developed and supported by Dementia UK, they provide families with support, expert guidance and with a friendly face to help the individual live more positively with Dementia.
