Story

Name our hero and help us raise £150!
Win £50 and the sketch of a brand new hero!

Oscar has been asked by St John Ambulance and his Badgers friends to raise money for their worthy cause, and has set him a challenge. I have been drawing all weekend after Oscar had a brilliant idea.

The Idea:
Together we have thought about what we could do and have decided in the spirit of what is happening and why these funds need to be raised, we are going to design and name a hero.

Oscar told me what powers our hero needs, and I drew him (after so many attempts and sketches), and he needed a name. We have thought of 100 possible names to choose from and we raffled these names off.

The Cause:
Right now, St John is stepping forward to save lives, with thousands of fully trained volunteers. They are supporting the NHS to care for people during the COVID-19 pandemic. The charity's vital role responding to the needs of communities across the nation has never been more relevant or urgent.

St John volunteers are supporting patients right now in the NHS Nightingale Hospital in London, and in hospital emergency departments up and down the country caring for those in need. As more Nightingale hospitals open, volunteers stand ready to do more. Volunteer ambulance crews are also working 24/7 supporting 999 call outs and transporting recovered patients back home safely.

St John Ambulance saves lives every day. But, as they face the extraordinary demands of this health emergency, resources are stretched like never before.

By donating and supporting our fundraising you make a real difference in helping fulfil the charity's vital role during this crisis. Together we can save lives by fighting COVID-19 in the months to come and continuing our work into the future. Details of this cause will be provided in another post

The Raffle:
Each name was purchased for £2 each, and all names needed to be taken before the raffle was drawn and our hero got his name. With £2 a name, and 100 names to be chosen from, we aimed to donate £150 to St Johns Ambulance to help towards their incredible efforts.

The Prize:
Not only was our hero crowned with the winning chosen name, but the prize draw winner won the sketch shown of the hero, alongside a massive £50 prize funded by the fund raising.

How to Enter:
In order to choose and pay for a name, kind friends and family messaged myself and I gave details of where and how to pay. I updated the name list as we went along, keeping all involved as much as me and Oscar could during this process.

The End:

Our hero was named Jack of Blades and was won by Sue Clark! She kindly donated the prize money to the cause and we were so grateful to her and all that helped Oscar's Name Our Hero challenge. Other friends and family donated towards the cause too - leading to a massive total compared to the £100 challenge set! Well done Oscar!

Thank you!
