Story
"When you are told that your child will be dead by lunchtime, life naturally seems devoid of hope. Ten years since that happened to us, Oscar has finished his GCSEs and will turn 18 on 14th July 2017."
As Oscar's Dad I am enormously proud not only of him but of everyone in shipping who has helped us raised over £1.5m to support life-saving research and treatments which are helping to beat childhood cancers and immune diseases.
A massive thank you and congratulations to Anna and Shane who are getting married in Maryland in September and to all of their guests who are kind enough to support us. Oscar is the son of Anna's cousin, Yvonne.
Please help us reach our boat's £5,000 target by sponsoring Spinnaker's Dragon Boat team, which is racing on 15th September in London.
Thank you!
Phil Parry
About the OSCAR Campaign:
The OSCAR Campaign raises funds towards areas of urgent need at Great Ormond Street Hospital and its research partner, the UCL Institute of Child Health. The campaign is raising money to support priority areas of research, the results of which will improve children’s lives not just at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children but worldwide.
The campaign is led by Phil Parry, Chairman of Spinnaker Global, whose son Oscar was diagnosed with leukaemia at just three years old. Oscar received three life-saving transplants at GOSH, one of which was a ground-breaking stem cell transplant. He is living proof of the importance of pioneering research.
