Story
Demelza Hospice Care for Children provides specialist care and emotional support for children with terminal conditions and their loved ones, so they can enjoy their time together as a family, for as long as they have.
In September 2023, starting from the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris and finishing at the Demelza Hospice in Kent, this epic 3-day bike ride will see cyclists covering more than 175 miles across the French and English countryside.
Two colleagues from OSB Group have bravely volunteered to take part and raise money for this wonderful charity - Jon Hall, Group Managing Director, Mortgages & Savings, and Christina Fasoli, Branch Manager at Kent Reliance.
Kent Reliance supports Demelza through its children’s saving account (where we donate the equivalent of 0.25% of the balances held in these accounts each year) and a variety of fundraising and sponsorship initiatives.
We know times are tight for everyone, but your money is vital to the care that Demelza provide, so any amount you can donate will help, no matter how small.
As an example:
- £100 could pay for a support group for a child with a terminal condition
- £49 could provide an hour of daytime care for a child
- Just £5 could pay for a telephone conversation to provide support to a family member
Jon said: “This will be a huge challenge for us both, but we’re driven by the fact that we’ll be raising money for a wonderful cause that Kent Reliance has proudly supported for many years, which helps to provide care and support for seriously or terminally ill babies and children.”
Christina agrees, saying: “I have spent time at the Demelza hospice in Sittingbourne and was inspired by the hard work of all the volunteers and wanted to help however I could. This won’t be an easy challenge, but luckily Jon and I have each other to push and encourage one another. It will be extremely rewarding and I’m so excited for me and Jon to reach that finish line, where we will do Demelza and OSB proud!”
