Story
It’s very hard to describe what our family has been through these last 8 months, and even harder to explain how amazing and strong our little Orla is, but one thing is clear to both me and Naomi and that is Orla would not be with us today if it wasn’t for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Childhood cancer is something that you never think would impact your children, but every week, around five children in the UK lose their lives to cancer. That’s five families who are faced with the worst news imaginable.
To help in the fight against this horrible disease Great Ormond Street Hospital have launched the Build It. Beat It campaign to help raise funds for a new cancer centre and facilities.
Our proposals for a new cancer facility | Great Ormond Street Hospital (gosh.nhs.uk)
The new Childrens Cancer Centre at GOSH will save children’s lives offering new facilities to help families stay together during their child’s treatment, a dedicated ICU for cancer patients, outdoor play areas and most importantly help create breakthrough therapies which will benefit children all over the world.
So, to help raise some money for this campaign myself and my dear friend Michael (aka Larko) have decided to brave the spandex once again and attempt to cycle 100 miles in the RideLondon-Essex 2023 at the end of May. Spending months in hospital on a diet of biscuits and takeaway food is not the ideal way to prepare for such an event but we’re going to give it our best.
Many of you wonderful people have already been so generous and donated to Orla’s GoFundMe page, so we’re going to use £1000 from this to meet our fundraising target, but additional donations are more than welcome and will go towards such a great cause.
Take Care
Love from The Tuckwell’s and Larkins.
