The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust strives to provide information, education and support to those affected by early pregnancy complications and to the health professionals who care for them. Ectopic pregnancy is a common, life-threatening condition that is the leading cause of maternal death in the first trimester of early pregnancy, The condition affects around 1 in 80 pregnancies in the UK and occurs when an embryo grows outside the womb. The EPT believes that the deaths and trauma associated with ectopic pregnancy should be prevented. We seek to relieve the distress associated with the experience and provide ongoing support through their treatment and beyond. Please support our enthusiastic 80in1 challengers who will be working hard through the month to cover their distance and will be raising crucial funds and awareness for ectopic pregnancies.
I have experienced 2 ectopic pregnancies, the first in December 2021 at 6 & 1/2 weeks I was admitted to hospital for surgery right away on the removal of the pregnancy and my right fallopian tube. Physically I was quick to recover but waves of emotion are always the hardest and can take me by surprise. April 2023 the feeling of excitement with finding I was pregnant again had been short lived with a feeling of history repeating itself taking over, this second time after over 2 weeks trying to locate the pregnancy it was found on the end of my only remaining fallopian tube but thankfully not the level of risk from before and undergone medical management at 8 weeks.
With the emotional waves and feeling of grief/ anger of wanting to know why, I have found the EPT information, support and media pages allow me to know that my feelings are shared with so many others, before my experiences it had all been so unknown to me and want to raise the awareness for others and give myself the boost with completing the challenge for myself.
