Story
Pretty much everyone has had their life touched by cancer in some way, be it a friend, a family member, a colleague or just someone you respected. That's no different for me and I want to do something about it. All the money I raise will go directly to Marie Curie, not the entry fee of the challenge and not for supplies or equipment. I'm not asking for a lot, just anything you can afford. Cancer is the biggest premature cause of death in the UK and remains one of medical sciences biggest challenges - Hopefully a hundred years from now science will have found a definitive solution and cancer will be looked on in the same way we might regard an ear infection, but until then we can help fund the research to beat this terrible disease and also fund the many people who dedicate their time to the treatment of those with cancer, and making a real difference to patients, friends and family alike.
I'm riding 47 miles by bike (not the motorised kind!) on September the 8th and whilst this might not seem like much, I can confirm it's bloody hard work, especiallly if the elements are against you! I'm doing this with my friends Michael Edmunds and Tony Garner as part of our amateur cycling group. the aptly named "Vansevenant Velo" and we've been training for this for the last few weeks, so hopefully we're well prepared. I'll update the page after I've completed the ride with some thoughts and images from the day.
All I ask is for you to take a second and think about those in your life who have struggled with the disease and contribute what you can.
Thanks for reading.
Robbie.
