Story
Optima will be doing a number of challenges throughout 2019 to raise money for Felix Fund.
Almost every day bomb disposal and search personnel deal with highly pressured situations. This continued exposure to intense stress can have lasting effects, both physical and mental. Felix Fund aims to assist with the well-being of individuals within the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Search community.
The £10,000 will be used to provide a residential training course for mindfulness. This course gives service personnel and veterans the skills to recognise the signs of stress and mental health issues. It assists them on how to deal with issues and gives them the tools and techniques needed to help them.
One course helps 10 service personnel and after the course the trainers are always there to keep in touch and assist.
In March 2019 the first course for Veterans will be held. They have enough people on the waiting list to hold one of these courses each week for a year!
Our main challenge in September 2019 will be Man Vs Mountain, a 22 Mile endurance event around Snowdonia.
This legendary mountain adventure race starts at sea level in the stunning Caernarfon Castle and weaves its way to the summit of Snowdon and down the other side into Dinorwic Quarry, where they have thrown in an array of punishing obstacles, including the infamous Vertical Kilometre, for you to tackle before we can cross the finish line victorious!
