Before the what, you need to know the why...

Whilst at work one afternoon as a police officer, I was walking through the bakery aisle (most likely to the doughnuts but that part is a blur) and a 7 year old girl was stood with her family by some cakes, deliberating and considering her options. She looked up at me as I passed and the conversation went like this...

Emily: Hello policeman

Me: Hello young lady, what cakes are you going to get?

Emily: I can't decide. We're celebrating.

Me: ooh is it your birthday?

Emily: No (said with a grin)

Me is it your brothers birthday?

Emily: No (said with an even bigger grin and a chuckle)

Me: well come on then, what are you celebrating

Emily: I don't have cancer anymore........

Now I'm not often left lost for words but, gobsmacked and completely taken aback by this matter of fact tone from this little lady, all I could think of was to raise a hand and exclaim 'High five'.

I was fortunate enough to spend a little more time talking to the family who explained that Emily had just been given the all clear.

After that chance meeting, I was moved by the strength and resolve of this young lady and her family who were overwhelmed with joy and the opportunity to have more time together. 

So now to that What...

Fast forward a few months and I got to thinking..."what could be done that encompasses my love of fitness, my slightly deranged mindset and would also be a spectacle that would encourage people to get involved"
So Operation Pulled Pork was created to help bring some like minded lunatics together to raise money to fund research and provide life saving work to young people.

On Sunday 20th October 2019 at the Great South Run in Portsmouth 3 people are going to do something crazy that's never been done before in an effort to part you from your cash in the most noble way!!

Geoff Speak, Arron Taylor and Connor Waters will be pulling a marked police car around the entire course. That's 1.2 tons of police car for 10 miles in order to raise money for the charity 'Children With Cancer'.

Cancer flat out sucks at any age and is traumatic for everyone affected, including friends and family.
But to be a child and have to try and fathom what that even means or the implications is overwhelming and heart breaking to think about.

Even the price of a £2 cup of coffee helps towards the cause but anything you can give (did you say a tenner? 😁) is fantastic and helps us to give families more time together and help beat cancer.
