Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to take on this 28k challenge to help spread some awareness of the amazing charity, Music for My Mind.
Who loves music?I don't think a single soul could say music hasn't helped them in their lifetime.
Music for My Mind is a charity seeking to provide evidence that personalised music enhances the quality of life and well-being of people living with dementia (over 850,000 in the UK alone).
As most of us may know, dementia is a major neurocognitive disorder; most types incurable. This charity is using music as a tool to connect with sufferers of dementia. They have seen great results and have helped patients reconnect with loved ones through Music.

This charity resonates hugely with me as I understand the power of music, especially over the past year when experiencing my own kind of isolation in lockdown. Whether it is lulling the hours away on the sofa, in the shower belting Disney, or on the stage pretending to be Barbra Streisand, my life is richer with music. The idea of connecting with someone through music is one I can relate too, it never fails to take me to another world.
Music touches so much of life that a particular song can bring back treasured memories or clear visions of the past. There is growing evidence that personalised music can be calming and/or stimulating for people living with dementia. It can also recreate the 'common ground' stolen from relationships and improve their well-being and that of those close to them.
The charities mission is therefore to fund, through research and technological development, a music programme as an integral part of the therapy and care that people living with dementia can receive. This will not only help improve their daily well-being but also bring comfort to their relatives, friends and carers.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please, if you can, help me raise some money for this amazing cause (and wish me luck running 28k!! Safe to say, music will be a key part in getting me through it!).
