In just 8 days Tim Norris and Tom Ingham are setting off on a massive challenge! They are attempting the mother of all adventures, a
10,000 mile journey across
1/4 of the earth's surface to raise money for the Christina Noble Children's Foundation and Send a Cow.
Known as "The Mongol Rally", the event is a 4 week trek from the East end of London to Ulan Bator in Mongolia. With 200 teams taking part the event could raise up to
one million pounds for good causes. Of course, in order to tackle all that rough terrain and heat the Operation Panda boys are taking a high spec rally car... a
fiat panda! Molly the panda has a whole 45bhp under the hood and a top speed of nearly 80mph. Yes, we know it sounds stupid!
Taking a cheap car which delivers good fuel economy is sensible since it means less money is spent on the journey and more can be given to the charities. Also, cars like fiat pandas are basic and therefore easier to fix. Once the car arrives in Ulan Bator it will be
given to local people in need of automotive transport.
Everyone's a winner!
So
we need your help to raise as much money as possible for the Christina Noble Children's Foundation. We'll be visiting one of their HQs when we arrive in Mongolia and would love to be able to see how much of a difference the money is making.
Please give anything you can. If you are a UK tax payer, this site can claim the tax back and make even more money for CNCF!
To keep track on our progress on the Mongol Rally, please check out the blog. We'll try and update it daily if possible: operationpanda.blogspot.comThanks and best wishes
