Story
Our brother/uncle Mark was diagnosed with PSC back in 2018. It was a bit if a shock, but his positive approach to the diagnosis and eagerness to maintain his very active lifestyle was reasuring.
Fast forward to March this year and Mark became unwell with abdominal pain, jaundice, and general exhaustion and he is currently undergoing assessment for liver transplant. Mark has been really well supported by PSC support with information, advice and support for his mental and emotional wellbeing.
A mix of experience and speed, we are all running the Robin Hood half marathon with a shared goal - to raise money in support of the extremely valuable support, information, education and research provided by PSC support for individuals and their families
Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a rare and complex immune-mediated disease of the bile ducts. Symptoms can be severe and unpredictable, sometimes progressing so far that the only lifesaving option is a liver transplant.People with PSC live with an increased risk of developing some cancers, including bile duct cancer and colon cancer. More than three quarters also live with inflammatory bowel disease. Even after a liver transplant, PSC returns in around a third of patients. There is no way to slow or stop the progress of this devastating disease and people living with PSC desperately need a cure. You donations will help PSC Support to provide much-needed support and information to people affected by PSC. Critically, they'll help PSC Support to fund and drive groundbreaking PSC research, taking us closer and closer to a cure. Every penny counts. Thank you. #LetsBeatPSC
