Story
On 26 September we will be taking part in this year's Brain Tumour Research 'Walk for Hope' in memory of my friend's sister Deb, to help raise funds for research into brain cancer. Deb was diagnosed with a grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma (a malignant brain tumour) in September 2014. She endured several neurosurgeries, radiotherapy and chemotherapy but the cancer progressed to stage 4 in October 2018 and she sadly passed away on 22 March 2020. Unfortunately for Deb, and for so many others, there is no cure for this type of brain cancer despite astrocytomas being the most common type of brain tumours. Deb fought an incredibly brave battle and we were blessed that she survived for 5 and a half years, many people with her cancer type face much shorter survival periods following a diagnosis. In a world where there are so many advances being made in the fight against cancer, it seems so wrong that people with a diagnosis for the most common brain tumour type are facing a death sentence. That is why we are fundraising for The Brain Tumour Research charity, please give whatever you can to help stop this terrible disease. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
