Story
Alan's Story- I was assaulted on duty whilst a serving police officer. This left me with damage to the nerve endings of my brain and PTSD. I was an outpatient at the Maudsley hospital for three and a half years and an inpatient at my local psychiatric ward when things got too much for me. Ultimately my problems caused the break up of my marriage. After time I remarried and was very happy. I suffered another injury and unfortunately this caused me recurring problems resulting in us splitting up. I know people wonder why I still suffer after so long but unfortunately I dont know the answer. Without the love of my daughter, sister and a few special people I doubt I would still be here.
I am really looking forward to running the marathon with my daughter Samantha for mind and thank you for your support. God bless.
Samantha's Story- Many members of my family have suffered from mental health, I myself have suffered from depression and anxiety at times since I was 17, for various reasons. My brother Paul, is the most recent member of my family to be diagnosed with mental health problems. He was sectioned under the mental health act for his own safety, back in January 2013 and was diagnosed with bipolar 1 disorder. This was a difficult time for myself and really brought home to me the seriousness of mental health and the lack of support that is out there. Mind is a fantastic charity that helps those who suffer and it is an honour to be running the marathon with my Dad on their behalf.
Any donation would be gratefully recieved for this worthy cause. Thank you for all your support.
