Story
Since being challenged by Huddersfield Town Football Club eight years ago to take part in 'Pedal for Pounds' and raise funds for the 'Keep It Up Campaign' (a key partnership between the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Football Club) it has been an annual event on the One 17 calendar.
This year half of the money raised will go to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the other 50% will be split between Huddersfield Town’s three other charity partners, the Huddersfield Town Foundation, the Forget-Me-Not Children’s Hospice and the Holly Bank Trust. Four fantastic Yorkshire charities that make a great difference to the lives of local people.
As 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the Great War, Pedal for Pounds 9 will commemorate the lives of six Huddersfield Town FC players who were killed during WW1 service. Cyclists will cover 282 miles over three days returning from Lille in France, through Belgium and back to Huddersfield.
Mark and Stephen will be pedalling, Stephen we suspect with ease and Mark with determination! Lynn and Caroline will be enjoying the fun of serving soup and warm drinks to keep the cyclists going, but with the major challenge of driving / navigating between pit stops!
