We help the hospital to transform the lives of children

Story

On Sunday 18th April Omar & Simon will shuffle up to the start line of the Brighton Marathon with thousands of others. We are raising funds on behalf of Forrest Crawford, a beautiful baby boy who suffered from birth asphyxia when he was born last December. He didn’t actually breathe for over 30 minutes.

Thanks to the wonderful medical team based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and the use of the ‘cooling technique’, where Forrest’s body temperature was drastically reduced to enable his body to recover, he is a very happy, healthy baby boy (check the last photo).

Having got to know Forrest's parents well and hearing more about their story, we felt moved to donate any money we can raise through our marathon run to Sparks. This is a fantastic children’s charity whose sole remit is to fund research across the whole spectrum of pediatric medicine. Sparks is at the forefront of the baby cooling technology which saved Forrest and which has boosted the survival chances of other infants who suffer oxygen deprivation during delivery. The ongoing research has also reduced the number of babies who suffer brain damage as a consequence of their birth trauma.

So there it is - we need your help and by sponsoring us, you will be contributing to a truly worthwhile cause and your money will help to ensure a positive outcome for more babies like Forrest. We would be incredibly grateful for any donation you can spare.
