Why Strathcarron?

Strathcarron Hospice recently provided end of life care for my partner’s mum, Janet.

The work of Strathcarron’s Hospice at Home team meant that Janet was able to spend her final weeks at home with her daughter (my partner, Lynsey) and husband (Graeme), and that they as a family were able to continue their video calls with Janet and Graeme’s son, Douglas, who lives in America. Janet was as comfortable and well looked after as possible, both by hospice staff and by her family. Being able to receive support from Strathcarron Hospice was crucial, both in enabling Janet’s wish to be at home, and in allowing the family to spend as much time together as they could. This was particularly important when coronavirus lockdown measures meant that many of those in hospice care were unable to see their loved ones. This time together at home was absolutely invaluable to Lynsey, Janet, Graeme, and Douglas, and was made possible through the work of Strathcarron Hospice.

The staff from Strathcarron were also a positive social and emotional presence for Lynsey and her family, when lockdown restrictions meant that they were unable to have loved ones there to support them in person.

Janet Harrower died peacefully at home on 14th May with her family by her side.

Strathcarron Hospice is reliant on donations to fund over 60% of the work that they do. This means that they need to raise £12,900 per day to keep their services running. If you are able, please donate to support the vital and truly invaluable work of Strathcarron Hospice.

The Game (optional donation bonus)

If you would like to use your donation to influence the events in our game, select a funding tier below and add your choices in a comment when you donate.

  • £10 donation – Adventure’s Aid: Help out our determined heroes or the spooky residents of Montarthas Manor.

Give the players or the DM one Adventure’s Aid dice reroll. You decide whether this allows them to reroll a d20 or damage dice. Please state your choices (players/DM, and d20/damage) in your donation comment.

  • £20 donation – Divine Donation: Your support divines the outcome of future events.

You choose to gift a natural 1 (automatic fail) or natural 20 (automatic success) to either the players or the Dungeon Master. This Divine Donation dice can be used at any time to replace any attack roll, saving throw, or skill check made by anyone in the game. Please state your choices (nat1/nat20, players/DM) in your donation comment.
