The Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Trust supports the Neonatal Unit at Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham. The charity fundraises in order to buy the highly specialised and sophisticated equipment needed to care for sick and premature babies and we look after approximately 1000 babies a year.

Story

Back in 2006, after much infertility treatment, I fell pregnant with twins.  The pregnancy went as expected until early January 2007 when at 33 weeks gestation my waters broke.  A few hours later my twins were delivered!  I got to see them briefly but I didn't get to hold them as they were whisked away to the Oliver Fisher SCBU to have emergency respiratory treatment.

My twins spent the next 6 weeks as inpatients on the unit, initially in incubators on the High Dependency Unit.

It was a very stressful, overwhelming time but the staff on the unit were so caring and supportive.

I hope I can raise a few pounds for the unit so that they can continue their life-saving work.
