On April 5th, I am going to be puffing and panting my way around 26.2 miles of the city as I take part in the 2020 Asics Manchester Marathon. I will be running the race in memory of my Auntie Rita and I will be raising money for St Ann’s Hospice who looked after her and supported our family so brilliantly in her final weeks.

On June 12th, 2018 after an incredibly brave battle with cancer, Rita Joyce passed surrounded by loved ones in our local St Ann’s Hospice in Little Hulton. She was a fabulous woman as anyone who knew her would agree and was loved by everyone. She was a huge character and could often be found feeding and looking after the local cats or having a cheeky tipple and a laugh with all of her friends. Rita was a brilliant, intelligent and kind woman but most of all she had a cheeky sense of humor that could light up any room.

In her time at St Ann’s my family and I all got to see first-hand and appreciate the truly amazing work their staff do to provide care and support for patients and their families with life-limiting illnesses. The Hospice relies on charitable donations to keep its doors open and St Ann's needs to raise £20,000 a day to continue to provide the care and support so many patients and families need.

Every single donation, no matter how big or small really does help and will mean so much. Your support will also provide me with that extra boost of motivation to get to the finish line.
