Story
On July 20-24 this year, I will be taking part in the #NoLimits London to Paris challenge!
10 years ago I was lying in hospital in a coma, unaware of how my life had changed and would never be the same. I'd been in a motorbike accident whilst on weekend leave from the army and was now paralysed.
I spent the next 6 months in bed, in hospital, unable to comprehend the future and not knowing what was next. Thanks to Back Up, they helped give re-lite that hope for a future and get me moving in the right direction again.
I thought I would mark my 10 year anniversary by getting involved in a challenge that I could never imagine being able to do, 10 years ago lying in that hospital bed.
I'm using my arms to cycle to Paris!
The London to Paris ride is Back Up's most grueling cycling challenge, covering 500km and climbing 5000m over three days. Departing from Hampton Court, I will cross The Channel and cycle across the finish line by the Champs-lyses. The challenge promises to be an immense test of mind and body - as well as an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime achievement!
For over 30 years, Back Up have helped people and their families to rebuild their independence after a devastating spinal cord injury. Their award-winning, practical services challenge the perceptions of what's possible and help to increase skills and confidence.
Back Up are here for people in their darkest hours, so they get back up to living life to the full. Any sponsorship you can provide will be hugely appreciated, and it will all go towards helping those affected by Spinal Cord injury.
