Story
I am running Brighton marathon on Sunday 2nd April in memory of our great friend, Ashley Breeze.
Ash had a huge passion for running, cycling and swimming and had completed over 100 marathons, ultras, triathlons and remarkably, two Ironman races. Only 5 weeks before he died, with his body in a huge amount of pain, Ash also ran a half marathon - testament to his strength. Many of the endurance events that Ash took part in were to raise money for charity and I hope to be able to do the same for Cancer Research and in running the marathon in Ash's memory.
It was Ash that first persuaded and inspired me to have a go at long distance running. I had been due to run my first ever marathon with him in Madrid, but managed to break my leg on a night out in London so was unable to take part. Rather than being annoyed that I was dropping out of the race with him, Ash found it hilarious that I managed to injure myself in the way that I had. He was always able to see the positives and humour in any situation.
Ash is greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He brought huge amounts of joy and fun to all of our lives. I am sure that this will be one of many events that will be completed in Ashley's memory.
