Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year I was cycling home and got knocked off my bike by a careless motorist. I ended up in a very similar state (induced coma due to swelling on the brain) and with similar injuries (a few more breaks and a damaged spleen) as Michael Schumacher.
It was quite a close call as to what level of recovery I would make, even if I managed to. Due to having age and fitness on my side, plus the great care I got at Nottingham QMC and the fast response & existence of the East Mids Air Ambulance, I have been lucky enough to make an almost full recovery.
During my recovery I wasn't sure if I would ever get back on a bike, but I have done. I am building my fitness back up, and over the August Bank Holiday I am going to ride 140 miles in 3 days on the Coast2Coast route (Whitehaven to Sunderland) with a small group of friends to help raise money for the East Mids Air Ambulance as a thank you for being there when I was at need, and to ensure that they are there for others in the future.
All donations big or small are gratefully appreciated.
