In 2006, Ollie Dismore was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He handled it with humour and positivity, as he does with every obstacle that he faces. He also decided to change his lifestyle completely – going from eating solely meat to cutting out meat completely and he started to get himself into shape, although much to our frustration, he remained a complete workaholic! Still all these years later, he runs everyday and has an unbroken streak on My Fitness Pal, which led to him setting a goal to run the London Marathon before he turned sixty.
Unfortunately, just before starting to train for his marathon in 2015, he was involved in an accident and suffered a bleed on the brain, which stopped him in his tracks – for a few seconds! Yet again, he continued to use light to conquer the dark and the doctors said his healthy lifestyle saved him yet again.
On 10th March 2018, Ollie turns sixty and because he was not able to run a marathon before turning 60, he’s decided to increase the challenge and run two marathons in two months in his 60th year (with a cheeky half marathon in March too!) He will be running the London Marathon on Sunday 22nd April 2018 for Prostate Cancer Research Centre and the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday 27th May 2018 for Prostate Cancer UK to help raise precious funds for patient care and clinical research into a cancer that 1 in 7 men will suffer from in their lifetime and over 11,000 men will die from it each year in the UK alone.
Therefore, please dig deep into your pockets and give whatever you can (links below) to not only support Ollie in fulfilling his goal, but also to help prevent other men going through what he went through, as some may not be so lucky.
We either have a prostate, or we love someone who does, so share, like, donate - whatever you can do to get this message far and wide and get donations for these incredible charities that often get overlooked.
Thank you!
