Thank you so very much for checking this page out and maybe even considering donating some of your hard earned money to the charity I chose. I will be taking part in the 3 Peaks event in May and hope to raise as much money as I can for REFUGE. Most of you know that my passion is climbing (I do not even own walking boots BUT for this charity I will pack my chalkbag somewhere safe and do what I have done the last two years: put one step in front of the other and just keep on walking).
I chose REFUGE as it is a cause very close to my heart and some of you well know why.
I want to raise awareness and do my part in trying to help other women and men who are going through what I had survived. Above all I want to blast through these ignorant assumptions and prejudices regarding domestic violence. It is nothing to be ashamed of and nobody should ever dare to judge or cast a blame on those having managed to escape.
There is a song called "walk a mile in my shoes" and so I will WALK more than a mile in my old shoes to try and change these prejudices, and the culture of "shame". I am not ashamed, I am not afraid anymore as I have had to fight so many demons lately, and I am a survivor not a victim. Above all I am eternally grateful for the kindness, care, love, support and safety/protection of my mighty army of friends and those so very kind strangers who stopped to help me by stepping in.
Please help me to raise awareness to this very worthy cause and sponsor me "walking a mile in my shoes".
Thank you so very much
:) Olivia
