Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am trying to raise money for Kings College Hospital as a way to thank them for all of the hard work they put in to looking after my brother at the end of last year when he unfortunately fell ill.
At the age of just 31 and normally fit and healthy, my brother had a brain aneurysm which ruptured. He suffered from a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a type of stroke caused by bleeding on the brain. 3 in 5 people who have an SAH die within 2 weeks, and half of those who survive are left with severe brain damage and disability.
Luckily thanks to the incredible staff at Kings College hospital, my brother was one of the fortunate ones who survived and is now on his road to recovery.
Brain aneurysms are not something people know a huge amount about, so I wanted to raise some awareness of them; try and help more people; and support those who have survived a ruptured brain aneurysm or other severe brain injury. They are rare and extremely hard to detect and often there are little to no symptoms when someone is suffering from an aneurysm, and only cause symptoms when they rupture.
King’s College Hospital Charity strives to make a difference to patients and their loved ones by supporting developments that go above and beyond what the NHS provides. Their aim is to assist in the delivery of a better experience and better results for the people who come to them in a time of need.
They were absolutely fantastic to myself and my family when we needed them the most and if I can help in any way to support them in providing the same care to anyone else going through a tough time then I will.
For those who know me, I am not a runner so this is definitely going to be the hardest physical challenge I have ever undertaken but I will give it my best shot and any donations or support on the day are hugely appreciated.
