Fundraising for Epilepsy Society
Fundraising for Epilepsy Society
So last year I set myself a fundraising challenge on behalf of my brilliant cousin to run 100 miles in a month. I completed it and felt so happy!… and clearly it went to my head because whoopsie, now I’m running the London Marathon. Me, the person who has very confidently said multiple times in my life that I’d never run a marathon… so let’s see how this goes. And I’ve chosen to do this as part of Epilepsy Society's Team Purple!
I was diagnosed with Epilepsy as an adult in 2017. There were previously no indicators that I had it, there is no consistent trigger to this day and it all seemed quite sudden and took some years of adjustment. But the main thing I felt was how little I actually knew about Epilepsy, how many types of Epilepsy there are, and how many types of seizures there are. I wouldn’t of even known what to do if someone had a seizure in front of me, and now I had become that person.
So I’ve chosen to run for Epilepsy Society to help continue the education for myself and for others who may like to listen. I’m also running for my Mum who experienced Epilepsy as a child in the 50s & 60s, which was a whole different ball game.
Also you may find comic relief in watching me attempt to train, so feel free to follow my journey to just laugh at me (each laugh costs £3.) In the immortal words of the random shrunken head in The Prisoner of Azkaban, “It’s gonna be a bumpy ride!”
