Story
Mental health - what a stigma, what a struggle.
So many suffer from mental health issues on a daily basis, often in silence, due to the poor resources available and the stigma that surrounds these illnesses. I think people feel it is easy to forget about or even dismiss since it isn't always obvious to see someone's suffering, however this doesn't mean they don't require help.
Unfortunately, some of my close friends and family have been directly affected by mental health issues and have had to fight battles of their own. This has directly influenced my life and the way I see those suffering from mental health struggles. They deserve more support.
Therefore, on Saturday 19th May 2018 WE ( SAM + I) will be taking on another ultra-running-challenge, the 'Jurassic Quarter'!
This is an undulating 46 mile (74km) Ultra Marathon along the South West Coast Path in the UK (the Jurassic Coast).
WE will be taking on this challenge, which will be both a physical and mental challenge to some extent, in order to show our continual support to those affected as well as helping to support the charity 'Mind' enabling them to continue the great work they do.
Mind provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. They state 'we won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect'.
