Hi all, 

I’m organising a fundraiser for The Daisy Lodge in Cong Co. Mayo, the work they do is outstanding as they provide a care centre for children with cancer. This helps families have a break from hospital routines and let their children be children in a fun, loving and caring environment. I have decided to set up this fundraiser as they need vital funds in order to begin building this care centre. I would much appreciate if ye would join me by participating in a collective 500km walk/run/cycle over the bank holiday weekend 23rd of October to the 26th of October. This will allow us all to get out into the fresh air and it gives everyone something positive to do in these testing times. I have set my own personal goal of 100km over the three days. I would be grateful if ye could donate to my Just Giving Page. (Or even just share my fundraiser on your stories, during this difficult time I understand that it may be hard for some people to donate but anything small is appreciated).  If ye could share and tag @daisylodge4mayo and @cancerfundforchildren on your Instagram and Facebook pages I would be so thankful.  It will enable all of us to spread the word about this amazing charity and help raise funds in order for them to proceed in doing their work.

“Cancer Fund for Children provides support to children diagnosed with cancer and their families by offering vital therapeutic short breaks at Daisy Lodge, therapeutic facility in Newcastle, Co. Down.   Daisy Lodge is a nurturing and restorative space that is purpose-built to support families at the most vulnerable, difficult, and exhausting time in their lives. These families have spent months in hospital or attended endless stressful clinic appointments and not forgetting the months as an inpatient that can bring a family to breaking point.   We create safe spaces for families to rebuild their confidence, and their hope in the future by providing a sense of comfort and wellbeing.  Daisy Lodge is a wonderful haven of peace and tranquillity where families receive the right level of support to relax, connect, and meet other families living through a childhood cancer.

Due to the ever-increasing demand for therapeutic short breaks we have launched a Capital Appeal to raise €12.5m to build a much needed second Daisy Lodge in Cong, Co Mayo which will certainly ensure that no family faces cancer alone.   With the wonderful support from Rory McIlroy, we have purchased a magnificent site in Cong to build Daisy Lodge and they have full planning permission and completed design stage.”
