Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On the 24th June, 4 middle aged people are attempting to prove that walking a marathon is easy! With a combined age of 182 we felt running a marathon might be a challenge so we decided on a walking fundraiser!
My sister Hayley and I wanted to mark the 10th Anniversary of losing our lovely aunt (Maureen Lane) to bowel cancer by raising money for a Cancer charity that is championing research into better treatment options.
What struck me when Maureen was diagnosed was the lack of hope and treatments available.
We are raising money for the Charity BRIGHT(Better research into gastro intestinal cancer health & treatment) www.brightcancercare.com
One of the main aims of BRIGHT is to fund research work for the benefit of all gastro intestinal cancer patients. All of the trustees are involved in research studies . The charity is currently funding the creation of a rectal brachytherapy database to allow Dr Alex Stewart(Chair of the Charity) to track the effectiveness of the new Papilion treatment ( BRIGHT part fund the cost of the papilion machine at St Luke's Cancer Hospital, Guildford). There has been interest both nationally and internationally on the research that the charity is conducting so it's not just Surrey and Sussex residents who will benefit long term.
