Story

On 29 March 2009 I will be running the Reading Half Marathon to raise funds for Mali Medics, a charitable project I am also involved in.

Mali Medics was set up at St. George's Medical School. In June 2009 I will be travelling overland with other recently qualified doctors to Mali with medicines and equipment. In Mali we will set up a surgical theatre and fly out consultant surgeons to operate on patients with obstetric fistula, while also training Malian surgeons in this procedure. Obstetric fistula is a problem affecting young women in labour without adequate medical supervision. This under-publicised condition leaves women incontinent, rejected by their partners and ostracised from their communities.

Read in more detail about our aims and progress at
www.malimedics.org.

Please sponsor us on this project. We are a small group and your money will make a real impact. The more money we raise, the more women we can operate on. All the money will go towards the trip: we will not be spending on administrative costs.

Many Thanks
