Story

On October 13th I will attempt my first Half Marathon for over a decade, in aid of the most important charity we, The Warren Family, know.

Around 12 years ago our best friends’, (James and Kat), daughter Poppy was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease. As Kat so eloquently describes it, ‘Mito’ is like an evil thief that comes into a child’s life and robs them of all of the basic human functions we all take for granted without consideringt it. Over time, Poppy has lost her ability to speak, her ability to swallow safely, her ability to walk, her independence and her dexterity and so much more. She is dependent 24/7 on the care of her family and carers.

Poppy endures more challenges in any given day, than many of us could imagine in a lifetime, and yet, so often, she will smile, laugh (often at me!) and generally brighten any room she’s in.

The Lily Foundation supports families affected by this awful condition and has done incredible work on improving the care, treatments, and awareness of ‘Mito’ that is so vital in the fight against this horrible disease.

Please give very generously to this cause, supporting families who need it so very much. In return I will run those 13.1 miles as fast as I can!

Thanks, Oliver x
