Story
For my birthday this year, I am asking for donations to The National Autistic Society.
Like so many other communities, the autistic community and their families have been devastated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Here are just some of the reasons why
- Some autistic people rely on rigid routines, such as timetabled hobbies and appointments with relatives. Lockdown has disrupted these routines, causing high levels of stress and anxiety. Autistic people struggle with change more than most people and must now process the "new normal".
- For autistic people, social situations can be a struggle in the best of times. Sometimes, they are ridiculed. Other times, they are misunderstood. Throughout the pandemic, social distancing measures have made it more difficult for autistic people to socially interact, heightening feelings of loneliness that were already common before the outbreak.
I am autistic and proud of this charity's support to autistic people and their families. But we need your help. Please donate to help heal the wounds and create a society that works for autistic people.
Once you donate, JustGiving will send your donation directly to The National Autistic Society, saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you.
