Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This charity meant so much to my good friend Ciarán that I wanted to take the opportunity of competing in Ironman Kona to remember him and raise some money for this amazing Charity at the same time.
Ciaran Smith - was one of the crew members of the Irish Coast Guard Rescue 116 helicopter who went out to sea to help in March but didn't make it home. In 2010 I had the pleasure of meeting and becoming friends with Ciaran, Martina and his lovely family. In the beginning it was the adventure races, such as the Gael Force West, that was the focus and then it went towards the endurance cycling events with the Race Around Ireland been tackled several times. Every autumn we'd meet for a coffee and the next big adventure was planned.
Ciaran did so much charity work and in preparation for this year's Race Around Ireland he was raising much needed funds for Aoibheann's Pink Tie charity which helps the families of children battling cancer. As a mark of respect for a great man I'd like to raise money for this charity.
I'd appreciate any donation you can make.
