Story
I've only gone and flippin' done it! I am now officially a marathon runner in a time of 3 hours 55 mins and 31 seconds I am super, super pleased. It was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster with the highlights being:
1) My brilliant support both around and at the end of the marathon. Lovely to have you there, you know who you were.
2) China town and the amazing drum band there
3) Running through a subway which was lit up with disco lights to 'Eye of the Tiger'. Ha! Made me laugh
4) Going through Anfield Stadium and passing their cup (lots of people were taking selfies)
5) All the Beatles music (I'm a massive fan) but Let it Be made me tear up
It was truly emotional and it took a few hours to physically and emotionally recover immediately after (clearly I am still aching but nothing bad at all). If it wasn't for people like you, I knew that were supporting me in Liverpool as well as all you at home following me online, I would never have made that time. Thanks so much.
So COVID can bog off, that didn't stop me and thanks to you and all your kind donations (£1180 and still offline donations to come in) we can help people diagnosed with Ataxia UK. Thanks so so much. The journey was made more emotional as I see how Ataxia affects my brother from day to day. He is a tenacious and determined character (you have to be when you have something like Ataxia) and I admire him greatly for how he lives with this disease. My effort yesterday is no where near comparable to the energy my brother puts into his life. He is and always will be an inspiration (despite being a stubborn old bugger at times :)
I tackled heat waves, wind and rain, COVID and even ran on our holidays but it was worth every mile to raise this sort of money and to finally be able to call myself a marathon finisher.
Thanks so much.
