Story
Yep here I am, wearing the lycra again for a cause I am passionate about, OCD-UK by cycling 100 miles from the Olympic Park, through London into Surrey and back into London finishing in front of Buck House.
Yes I am a MAMIL..... But you have to admit, I deserve your sponsorship for wearing the lycra, let alone 100 miles!
Whilst I have cycled a lot as most of you know, cycling 100 miles in a single day remains a challenge, and as you can see from the pic above, I am not athletically built so this remains a real test of physical and eventually mental endurance.
The route is on closed roads, which offers a unique experience and is relatively flat until we reach Surrey where we tackle the Olympic route and the in/famous Box Hill climb. There are four challenging climbs within the 100 miles, and if that's not enough pressure there is a time limit too!
OCD-UK is my charity, but my team of volunteers do amazing work, we really do make a positive difference for those suffering with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder... which is more than many of you think! Left untreated the illness can have a devastating impact on those that suffer, and they really do suffer. I suffered for close to 15 years where the illness dictated every aspect of my day, from eating to relationships. Whilst I am well on the road to recovery, OCD remains a challenge and the collateral damage of my condition is perhaps still affecting me today, despite my best efforts to move on.
Your donation, your support will help ensure the charity not just survives and continues in 2019, but hopefully can expand on it's core services to ensure we help even more of the three quarters of a million people here in the UK with OCD!
Thanks guys... Ash
