In January 2021 i noticed a lump in my throat, so booked a Dr's appointment to get it checked out. After a number of tests in March 2021 i was diagnosed with A Squamous Cell Carcenoma in my throat and so my treatment journey began. As my daughter is training to be a Therapeutic Radiographer she had the knowledge to guide me through what to expect from the treatment.

I had 7 weeks of Radiotherapy and 2 courses of Chemo at St James in Leeds.

The treatment i received was exceptional , i am one of the lucky ones . i followed all the advice they gave me and was so thankful to be given the all clear in October 2021. Like so many of us i know a great number of people who's lives have been affected by a cancer diagnosis.

So with the same incredible group of friends from the Old Brodlieans Rugby Club, who supported me through my cancer journey , i am embarking on another grueling journey , a mammoth cycling challenge  'Blood Sweat & Gears' Lands End to John O'Groats approximately 110 miles a day for 9 days and with an average age of 60 we need all the support we can get. 

So your donation no matter how large or small is very gratefully received and will help CRUK to continue their research and life saving discoveries. My good friend Mark who has been beside me all the way and is cycling with us, tragically lost his sister to skin cancer in 1994. Thanks to the work of CRUK, my story had a happy ending. Together we can beat cancer.
