Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
2020 was set to be a big year for Oakham CC, all 3 senior teams got promoted in 2019 and this year is our 150th year anniversary.
However, with the current situation, it is not possible to take to the field on a Saturday/Sunday or celebrate this big year for the club.
A few club members have been getting out their bikes, or putting on their trainers and covering some miles around Rutland so this got us thinking...
Rob Taylor, Mark Owen, Angus Owen, Will Begy, Tom Banham, Tom Clifton, Charlie Baker & Ollie Hubbard will cycle/run the distance needed to travel from Oakham CC to The Grange CC (Edinburgh) and back in 7 days, a total of 614 miles. We will start on Sunday 26th April and finish on Saturday 2nd May.
During Rob's playing career with Scotland, The Grange was and still is the ground a lot of International matches are played at and it was such a great place to play with an excellent atmosphere. So when we were deciding a destination - this came straight to mind.
All funds we raise will be donated to the Trussell Trust Food Bank in Oakham and Stamford, to help bring food to those in need during these challenging times.
We will be ticking off certain land marks along the "Virtual route" and if anyone would like to join us for some guest miles then please do!
We are very grateful to everyone who will play a part in helping support, but specifically to Dean Headley and DCR Events, who will be helping promote our challenge.
* During the challenge we will be adhering to the government and health organisation guidelines currently in place. *
