KEEN USA (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now) is a national, volunteer-led non-profit organization that provides one-to-one exercise and recreational programs for children and young adults with cognitive and physical disabilities at no cost to their families or caregivers.
KEEN’s Mission
Empower youth with disabilities by providing free, non-competitive one-to-one programs of exercise, fitness and fun, led by volunteer coaches.
KEEN’s Vision
Foster confidence, self-esteem and community inclusion for youth with disabilities; strengthen communities through education of volunteers; and provide families with respite and a supportive network.
KEEN provides physical activity opportunities for one of the hardest to serve populations of cognitively and physically disabled children and young adults in our communities. Our KEEN athletes have autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and other significant physical or intellectual disabilities. For our athletes who have extensive cognitive and/or physical disabilities or those who are nonverbal, KEEN is often the only organization that can accommodate their special needs.
The benefits of KEEN are three-fold. KEENs programs provide our athletes with exercise and physical activity, parents or caregivers are provided with much needed respite, and our volunteers come to understand and accept differences in others and are empowered to become community volunteer leaders.
