Story
Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities are struggling to maintain services because of the reduction in income due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
Northumbrian Water's Strategic and Tactical Planning Team have decided to join together to raise funds for Cancer Research through the 2.6 challenge. Cancer Research help bring cures and kinder treatments to all.
Each of us has concocted a challenge, as individuals or family units, based around the number 2.6 or 26 (dubbed the 2.6 challenge). Some of the challenges we have set ourselves include walking, running or cycling various distances from 2.6 km to 26 miles, family fitness classes, painting rainbows, yoga, running up the stairs 26 times and even planking for 2.6 minutes x 26 times every half hour ... Phew!
All challenges to be completed from 26th to 30th April and we will keep posting regular updates on progress.
We hope to raise as much as possible so we can keep helping this wonderful charity to keep helping others.
Cancer is still destroying lives and Cancer Research UK can only keep up the pace of life-saving research with charitable support.
