I am fundraising for sight restoring surgery…I cannot think of a more empowering and life enhancing gift to give to someone. Graham Layton Trust is testament to how thousands of small acts of charity can improve millions of lives. 

Today, more than 26 million people are blind or visually impaired in Pakistan and many know they will never be able to save enough money to pay for treatment for their deteriorating eyesight. In the UK, we are so fortunate that we can see a health professional whenever we need it and despite the challenges, our NHS is fantastic!! I want to help people who cannot access healthcare and deserve to see their world.

I have seen for myself the impact sight surgery can have on people’s lives and the difference it can make to an entire family’s fortunes. I have met patients like Zakir (pictured above), he works as a fisherman and told me he did not want to be a burden on his family but just needed a helping hand as his sight deteriorated. Surgery sponsored by GLT meant he could support his family with dignity once again. 

…and that is the reason why this year I am joining Team GLT on their 25k trek along the South Coast to raise funds for free eye care in Pakistan and hope you will make a donation of any amount to help me reach my target, which will provide sight restoring surgery for 100 people.
