Final update: Got it done in under 5 hours!! What a journey 🙌🏻 Ended up raising a total of £2,548.78 (€2,993.06) for Cancer Research UK, thank you to everyone who donated, it really means a lot ❤️
07/04/2024: Today we reached £2,000 raised in total!! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and given their support in one way or another over these three months of preparation! Almost there now, just one week to go!! 🏃🏻➡️
15/03/2024: Today we reached the £1,000 mark in funds raised directly through this page!! The total donation amount now stands at almost £1,700 - the value shown on this page, plus the gift aids and the £500 matched by the company I work for. Your support is certainly motivating me to keep on pushing in training! The marathon is in four weeks' time, so please keep donating, let's finish strong 💪🏻
12/02/2024: The goal of raising £500 was reached today, two days after the initial target was met. There are still two months to go until the marathon, so please keep donating to help Cancer Research UK drive progress and bring hope to those affected by cancer 🫶🏻
10/02/2024: The initial goal was reached today, precisely one month after receiving the first donation. Why stop here? The company I work for will match all funds raised, up to £500, so if we reach that amount, the total donation will be £1,000. Any donation value would be greatly appreciated 😁
10/01/2024: I will be running my first-ever marathon on the 14th of April and I am taking the opportunity to raise money for Cancer Research UK - targeting to raise £10 for every full kilometre of the 42.2 km race.
Cancer remains one of the world's greatest health challenges and it represents the second leading cause of death globally. Around 10 million people die every year as a result of cancer, accounting for approximately every sixth death in the world. This number has been steadily increasing and is expected to keep growing due to ageing populations. It is also a very personal topic due to having lost my uncle António to lung cancer and having seen up close how brutal it can be.
Cancer Research UK is the world's largest independent cancer research charity and it is almost entirely funded by the public. It is one of the world's most influential cancer research organisations and for more than 120 years it has been pioneering work on how to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Their work has benefitted millions of lives worldwide and we can help them in driving progress and bringing hope to those affected by cancer, namely through donations.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. You can donate in any currency you would like and they will send your money directly to the charity. Any donation value would be greatly appreciated.
Running a marathon will be a huge challenge, both physically and mentally, and will require a lot of hard training beforehand. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to the journey ahead and cannot wait for the marathon day!
